On this biking trip from Kunming to Vietnam, You will have time to wander through ancient Confucian temples and the thriving villages of Chinese, Hani, Thai, Yuanyang - a most delightful vicinity populated by the Yi, Tai, Miao, Hani and several other minority groups. With their resilience and diligence, they created wonders both practical and exhilaratingly beautiful to behold. Crop is grown on steps carved into slopes and together with the clouds enveloping the mid-mountains, the landscape is transformed into a remarkable work of art. 

In our trip we will visit the schools and students of Yuanyang funded by Yunnan America Foundation. You will to talk to the students and visit their villages. Your help will encourage the students to go back schools and finish their study. We will travel through Vietnam's most spectacular mountain range is for cyclists seeking a biking challenge, enjoy climbing and mixing it up with some off road trails. We will travel to the scenic hill-station of Sapa and ride the amazing mountain trails around Fansipan, Indochina's highest peak, before riding over a 2 km high mountain pass, the first of many. This tour goes to a part of Vietnam where few foreigners ever venture and you¨ll be amazed at the colourful clothing of the many ethnic tribes as you ride through valleys and river gorges to Dien Bien Phu. Here we¨ll visit battlefields and learn how Ho Chi Minh defeated the colonial French and then two long days of riding will be rewarded by a stay at the charming Mai Chau lodge before heading to Hanoi.

 
Day 1 Kunming
Arrive in Kunming, et and taken to your hotel. (D)

Day 2 Jianshui
Morning drive to Jianshui, The historic and cultural city. Jianshui, 220 kilometers south of Kunming, is a state historic and cultural city. In the afternoon we will ride to Tuanshan Village - centries old, 13km west of Jianshui City. Built in Qing Dynasty, regarded as the Gem of Chinese Civil Houses. Afterwards we will ride back to Shuanglong Bridge(Twin Dragons) - 3km west of Jianshui, the 17-Arch Bridge arches across the confluence of the Lujiang River and the Tachong River. (B,L,D)

Day 3 Jianshui to Nansha
We will ride today 72KM to Nansha county(30 KM ups and downs, 42 KM down hill to Hong he river). (B,L,D)

Day 4 Yuanyang
We will ride to Yuanyang (30 KM up hill), in the afternoon we will ride through the fields to Shnegcun and Duoyishu. (B,L,D)

Day 5 Yuanyang to Jinping
We will ride the Tiger's Mouth and visit the terraced fields. In the afternoon we will ride to Jinping County. (B,L,D)

Day 6 Jinping to Hekou
We will ride along the Red River to the Vietnamese Border. Overnight in Hekou.(B,L,D)

Day 7  Border crossing to Vietnam
Transfer to Customs. Say goodbye to your Chinese guide and walk through the customs and meet your Vietnmese team. Transfer to Sapa and the start of our journey in Vietnam. Check into our hotel. Take an off road ride to the village of Ta Phin on trails used by the ethnic locals to get to market.  (B,L,D)
 
Day 8 Sapa - Heaven gate - Than Uyen
 est mountain view today, about one hours up hill, with a stop over Silver waterfalls for relax before we conquer the highest mountain pass Oquiho. Then decending down the great panoramic view of HoangLienSon mt. range. Lunch en route. Nice villages of Hmong and Dao near BinhLu, then we keep on new road to ThanUyen.

Day 9 Than Uyen - Tuan Giao
In the morning, we visit the famous rice terraces of Mu Cang Chai, then we transfer to MuongGion and ride to MuongGiang and onto TuanGiao. Some part of the road is bad, but great view along NamMu river branches. Scenic Da river from Pa Uon bridge.

Day 10 Tuan Giao - DienBien
A nice ride day with stop over the white Thai village before climb up to Tang Quai pass. Road condition today is good. Here is a clip of MuongPhang valley before DienBien

Day 11 Around DienBien
A full day touring around DienBien. We ride back to the former French battlefield : Eliane hill, DeCastries bunker, DienBien museum you will see some old US weapons, and a French army tank in the runway of DienBien airport (used to be MuongThanh airfield). (B)

Day 12 Dien Bien - PhaDin pass - SonLa
After breakfast, we have van transfer one and half hour back to TuanGiao, then we mount on our bike, 6km warm up then the climb start. 12 km winding up hill and 14 km down hill. Nice landscape of green rice fields and karst valley. Light traffic, wandering water buffaloes, Thai and Hmong kids.

Day 13 SonLa - MocChau - MaiChau
We have van transfer in the morning to Moc Chau plateau, then start cycling to MaiChau. The road passes beneath spectacular karst cliffs with the valley floor visible far below. Lots of Black Thai villages, descending to MaiChau.

Day 14 MaiChau - Hanoi
First 15km out of MaiChau is up ThungNhuoi pass, then we go 17km down to ManDuc and two more gentle hill to DocCun. (25km). We take a small route to BaiChao onto LuongSon. Our bus pick up and come back to Hanoi
and gather one last time for a farewell dinne(B,L,D

Day 15  Hanoi Onwards
Time to explore Hanoi before onward travel. (B)

Day 1: Hanoi C Halong ( Lunch, DInner)
Morning shutter bus picks you up at your hotel and departs to ha long.
Arrival in Halong city with warmest Greeting at Hon Gai wharf (close the old ferry wharf). Then, board your cruise in time for a Welcome drink, check in registration
Enjoy many kinds of seafood lunch while sailing to Ha Long Bay, passing stunning rock formations such as Monster Face, Tea pot & cup, Swan Rock...
Drop anchor at Vong Vieng floating village, a quite, calm area where there is time to swimming, kayaking around the bay and paddle throughout the hidden cave or relax and soak up the sun.
As evening falls, returning to the junk and experience the Vietnamese style dinner . Join some kinds of Activities at night such as squid fishing, dancing, chatting with neighbor boat, etc.,

Day 2: Halong C Hanoi ( Brunch)
Breathtaking view and amazing sunrise before Breakfast. Then see the Man Head rock, the Turtle, and Heaven Gate formations while heading to Sung Sot Cave which is one of the most beautiful cave in Ha long Bay
Lunch is served on board before disembark to catch up the coach and back to hanoi
Have a short break around 30 minutes in Dong Trieu town where you are relax and little shopping or take a cup of coffee
16.30: your tour ends with transfers to your hotel.
